Lamb kofta curry 


For kofta: 

  • 1.5 lb ground lamb
  • 1 egg 
  • 1 tsp garam masala 
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • Salt 
  • Handful of cilantro 
  • 1.5 tbs each garlic and ginger paste


  • One medium onion 
  • 1.5 tbs garlic and ginger paste 
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp corriander
  • 1.5 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp curry powder 
  • 1 tsp turmeric 
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala 
  • 2 bay leaves 
  • 1 stick of cinnamon 
  • 1 plum tomato
  • Salt 
  • Cilantro 

Mix all the kofta ingredients together. 

Make equal sized meatballs. 

Heat a pan with oil and sear the meatballs on all sides. Don’t worry about cooking it fully it will cook in the curry. 

Once this color remove with a slotted spoon onto a plate. Set aside. In a seperate pan heat oil. Add onions with salt. Cook for a few mins and then add garlic and ginger paste. Add in all the spices, bay leaves and cinnamon. Toss in tomato and cook for a few mins. Then add in meatballs. 

Add a little water, cover and let simmer for 10 mins. 

Garnish with cilantro and done. Serve with white rice and lemon. Enjoy!
